Welcome to Pittsburgh
Whether you're driving across town or flying in from another state, I'm so glad you'll be joining us for ART Basic Training in Pittsburgh.
When I was choosing where to complete my own trainings, I quickly realized that the location matters. I wanted a venue that was easy to get to, surrounded by great food and coffee, and close to comfortable hotels—without requiring a rental car or long commute after a full day of learning.
That's exactly why I chose Shadyside.
Located in one of Pittsburgh's most walkable neighborhoods, the training venue is just steps from restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, and nearby hotels. My hope is that your travel feels simple so you can focus on learning, connecting with colleagues, and enjoying your time in Pittsburgh.
Our training will be held at the Awareness & Wellness Center of Pittsburgh, located in a beautifully restored historic building filled with natural light. Situated directly above Jitters Café, you'll have easy access to coffee and breakfast each morning, with numerous restaurants and local shops just outside the front door.
TRAVEL & LOCAL GUIDE:
-
Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) is approximately 30–40 minutes from the training venue.
Uber and Lyft are readily available, and if you stay in Shadyside, you can easily walk to many restaurants, coffee shops, and nearby hotels. A rental car isn't necessary for most attendees staying in the neighborhood.
-
Friday
Friday parking typically requires either:
Metered street parking
Nearby parking lots
Public parking garage (approximately $12/day)
I recommend arriving a few minutes early if you plan to park on the street.
Saturday & Sunday
Here's my favorite local tip...
There is free weekend parking available in front of the nearby elementary school just a short walk from the training venue.
One less thing to think about.

Need caffeine before we get started? My favorite recommendation is also the easiest.
Jitters Café is located on the first floor of our training building, making it the perfect place to grab coffee or breakfast before heading upstairs each morning.
You'll also find several other local coffee shops within walking distance if you'd like to explore the neighborhood.
-
One of the perks of training in Shadyside is that you're surrounded by fantastic restaurants.
If I had to recommend one…
🌮 Tocayo – Shadyside
This is my favorite nearby restaurant. I eat at their sister restaurant almost every week.
There are plenty of quick lunch options within walking distance, making it easy to grab a meal and still have time to recharge before afternoon practicum.
