Chancie Chaney,

M.Ed, LCMHC, LPC, NCC

Therapist, mother, storyteller, nervous-system listener.

Hi, I’m Chancie Chaney.

2020 changed me. It changed many of us. The global pandemic cracked open the illusion that we could carry endless responsibilities without consequence. It revealed the collective grief simmering beneath our attempts to keep life moving. For me, it became the turning point that reshaped not only my career, but my calling.

Before private practice, I spent my 20s in youth empowerment — founding a nonprofit, traveling across 20 states and 6 countries facilitating leadership development workshops for teenagers, and supporting the work of an international NGO in the Middle East. Throughout my 30s, I counseled in public schools, sitting with adolescents navigating complex emotional landscapes. Young people were, and still are, my passion. So it often surprises people that I no longer see children in my therapy practice.

The truth is that my shift began during the early months of the pandemic. Counseling kids through a screen — staring at dim bedroom ceilings, glitchy videos, and exhausted faces — made one thing painfully clear: children were struggling, but the adults around them were too. Phone calls home often meant supporting overwhelmed parents who felt like they were unraveling under the weight of working, caregiving, and surviving a global crisis.

I realized that if adults were not okay, children wouldn’t be okay either. And so I shifted.

My Training & Clinical Focus

I have advanced training in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders through Postpartum Support International and hold a Master Certification in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). This training allows me to support adults navigating PTSD, anxiety, stress, depression, fears and phobias, chronic pain, medical or birth trauma, stroke-related emotional changes, dyslexia-related anxiety, ADHD-related overwhelm, and other nervous-system-based challenges.

My work is grounded in an understanding of how experiences are held in the nervous system — not just in thoughts or words — and how healing can occur without requiring clients to relive every painful detail.

My own perinatal journey — IVF, pandemic pregnancy, postpartum anxiety — deepened my understanding of how vulnerable these seasons can be. It also revealed how profoundly adults need care during these pivotal seasons.

I pursued advanced training in perinatal mental health and trauma therapies, including approaches that help the nervous system resolve emotional imprints without requiring clients to retell painful stories. What I initially sought to support birth trauma became a transformative tool for so many forms of distress — sexual assault, medical trauma, grief, anxiety, identity shifts, and the quiet overwhelm of modern adulthood. Now, I help adults heal the parts of themselves that feel overwhelmed, frightened, disconnected, or burdened — so they can ripple that healing outward into their families and communities.

I believe this wholeheartedly: when adults are steady, children thrive.

This belief guides everything I do.
